14th Annual Charity Golf Tournament

On Sunday, June 12, 2011 one hundred and twenty-four golfers gathered at Whisky Run Golf Club on Lorraine Road in Port Colborne to play in the 14th Annual Young Auto Professionals Charity Golf Tournament. Proceeds from the tournament go to support an elementary school breakfast program for students needing some assistance from their school. We are pleased to provide funds for this worthwhile project.

The weather was good for golf and the field of golfers demonstrated that they were having a lot of fun throughout the tournament.

Following a traditional shotgun start at 8:00 a.m., the golfers were treated to a mid-game break at the complimentary “Gourmet Hot Dog Stand” staffed by a variety of volunteers from the Young Auto Professionals. At the end of the event, Whisky Run provided an exceptional steak dinner that was appreciated by all in attendance.

Prizes were awarded at the conclusion of 18 holes and many of the golfers stayed around to chat and renew friendships with the many national suppliers representatives that were in attendance.

Appreciation is extended to all who participated in the tournament,  our sponsors and the staff volunteers who made the event run smoothly.

Monroe Ride Control Clinic Plays to "Full House"

Robert Maiurro, Area Manager for Tenneco Canada, was the featured presenter at our special clinic. Robert shared the latest information and technical tips on Ride Control / Suspension with 50 registered mechanics and shop owners on May 18, 2011.

Fifty-four area shop owners, mechanics, technicians and service writers attended the training clinic. Fourteen staff members from The Young Automotive Professionals were also in attendance.

To start the evening off ‘The Country Boys’ catering service from Wainfleet provided a great meal for everyone.

Robert Maiurro led the group through technical details on Ride Control in general, and how Monroe products could improve the operating conditions of vehicles that have reached the performance limit on the factory equiped suspension system installed at the time the vehicle was assembled in the factory.

Using the latest videos and slides to demonstrate how the suspension system degrades over time, Robert showed the impact on STEERING, STABILITY and SAFETY.

Robert then displayed the difference that new equipment made to the stability, steering, and stopping of vehicles. Some time was also spent on the relationship between suspension and the electronic stability control systems in many new automobiles.

Information on how to communicate the need for and value of repairs to a vehicle suspension system to customers. Robert noted that most consumers do not understand that a properly functioning suspension system is critical to the vehicles overall safety.  He stated that many customers equate the suspension system with ride comfort and it is the duty of shop personnel to impress on them the importance of having a properly operating suspension system for safety.

Everyone in attendance received some gifts from Monroe. A series of door prize draws was also presented at the conclusion of the clinic.

Additional information on Monroe Ride Control and Monroe suspension products is available from any Counter Person at Youngs or from our Sales Representatives in the field: Frank Nava and Bob White.

Contact us for a Monroe vehicle suspension check list to assist you with determining the condition of each vehicle’s system.
